About the Congress The Congress shall be participated in by 30 of the most outstanding student leaders in their junior year selected from the high schools across the provinces of Region VII. It features lectures, outdoor activities, and plenary sessions. Individuals who highly exemplify excellent academic performance and leadership skills share their own leadership stories and experiences and challenge participants’ perspectives to foster growth and development. Also, speakers from the field of youth development and community advocacy share their visions for the community to enlighten the youth. Outdoor challenges develop a sense of self-efficacy, trust and teamwork among the participants and help build a community of learning that will be sustained after the congress. Project planning activities shall be conducted to give the young leaders a feel and a training of actual project management and planning. The program provides participants opportunities to network with their peers and develop bonds of mutual respect that will be sustained over the course of their lifetimes. Moreover, as they shall embark on their journey as college students a year after the congress, they shall make informed choices and decisions and even as they assume positions of responsibility in government, private, and the social sectors. Their shared commitment to integrity and national development will hopefully give rise to productive dialogue and cooperation. AKYC alumni are envisioned to become a collective and powerful catalyst for change and national renewal. |
